2025

For 2025, OVAID's 11 day Tour will be centred on Sumatra.
Starting from Medan, the capital of Nth Sumatra on Saturday 1st November this amazing adventure tour will see you visiting various orangutan & wildlife NGOs working to secure the future for the critically endangered orangutan and other species.
OVAID has unique access to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) rescue centre at Batu Mbelin where you will meet the vet team, deliver donations and see the rehabilitation process in action. Visit The Orangutan Haven - a sanctuary for unreleasable orangutans with their islands instead of the confines of cages and meet the teams from Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) and Forum Konservasi Leuser, both working to protect and regenerate the Gunung Leuser forest.

Join OVAID's co-founders Dr Nigel Hicks and Sara Fell Hicks on this fully accompanied eco-tour exploring Sumatra off the beaten track. Climb Mt Sibayak for an awesome sunrise from the summit, trek deep into the Leuser Ecosystem forest in Ketambe, search for wildlife, camp overnight in the jungle and bathe in cool jungle streams before finally relaxing beside the beautiful Lake Toba.
